WATER WOMEN

WATER WOMEN is a series that evokes and invites us into the contemplative world of
the waters that move through us.
This project aims to be a reappropriation and re-signification of the catalan myth of the water women
(dones d’aigua), where they are no longer confined to secrecy, mystery, and the darkness of night,
but instead they emerge into the light, inhabiting and taking agency over their own bodies and their own narratives.
At the same time, it symbolizes the connection between the inner and outer worlds through the element of water in all its forms, and through self-portraiture and portraiture as tools to get to know ourselves and to weave community.
The fluidity, abundance, and transparency of water are personified in Coventina, the Celtic goddess of fresh water, representing the importance of hydrating, caring for, healing, and nourishing our bodies, as well as the body of the Earth. The fusion of these two bodies expresses the desire to rethink the spaces we cohabit with other beings and entities in order to foster more conscious, responsible, present and empathetic ways of living.
